Orishas: slave gods.

African gods brought by the slaves from Africa to Cuba are still ever-present in the Cuban society. Olofi is the supreme God; below him there are several Orishas – gods with superior energies that govern our fates.
A great many Cubans practice Santería (Afro-Cuban religion), where each person is the son/daughter of one of these Orishas.
