Every May 1st in Havana

Since the victory of the Revolution in 1959, religion fell to the background, while Labor Day, on May 1st, became the most important festivity and celebration in Cuba.
The unity of the Cuban people around the Communist Party and its political leaders is demonstrated during these celebrations, mainly around Fidel Castro, especially in 2016 when Fidel turned 90, and in 2017, one year after the death of the Commander.
The parade starts at 7:30 in the morning, which leads many people to stay awake through the night waiting for that moment. At 10 in the morning, hundreds of thousands of proud Cubans will have already visited the Martí Memorial at the Revolution Square.
